A review of papers on methods of minimization in inverse gravimetric and magnetometric problems

A cycle of works associated with the solution of inverse gravimetric and magnetometric problems by the fitting method is reviewed. We consider the following questions: the general definition of the problem, the classes of the geological problems and their parametrization, the methods of the comparison of the functions and their structural features, the choice of the initial approximation of the model, numerical methods of the minimization of the multiparametric functional, estimation of the confidence intervals, criteria of the uniqueness of the solution of the inverse problem within the scope of the selected model class, some peculiarities of the use of field transformants and other problems.
