Numerical modeling of seismicity. 2. Fractal properties of an 1-D diffusion model

© Kulchitsky V.E., Scerbyna S.V.

The contribution investigates fractal features of a seismicity phenomenological model [1]. Scaling relations for the temporal seismicity component were obtained and fractal dimensions were assessed by computation catalogues. In the time component a strange attractor was discovered and its properties were described. For some time series the fractal dimension behaves as a forecast criterion of large events.
