Numerical modeling of seismicity. 3. Problem of maximum earthquakes (an 1D diffusion model)

© Kulchitsky V.E.

The contribution continues a seies of publications [1 - 5] studying the properties of unidimensional diffusion seimicity model. The present study analyzes results of numerical experiment aimed at solving the problem of the maximum possible earthquakes in the model. It is shown that the maximum possible earthquakes in a model are determined by the type of limitation function Pm(x) that correlates well with the function approximating distribution of epicenters along OX axis. Corrections between convertional energy classes K and some seismicity parameters were obtained. Good qualitative agreement between calculated and empirical dependences is observed.
