A magnetochronological scale of the Late geacial epoch (13-10 th y ago) for SE Fennoscandia and adjacent regions

© Bakhmutov V.G.

One of the main problems of paleomagnetism is tying the results to the time scale. A chrono- and magnetostratigraphic scheme of geomagnetic field secular variation for Late Weichselian deposits of NW Russia proposed earlier was not reliably defined chronologically. A comparison of paleomagnetic data of Karelia with well dated results of the South Sweden enabled us to determine the chronological and the radiocarbon age of the mean peaks of the declination and inclination variation of geomagnetic field. The modern version of the Late Weichselian magnetochronological scale is presented.
