Tectonic correction of the paleomagnetic directions of intrusive rocks (on the basis of cracks orientation)

© M.I. Orlova, 2001

The bedding planes of rocks of the Middle Jurassic to Early Ñretaceous intrusive - volcanogenic formation, located in the region of Argentine islands (Antarctic Peninsula) are determined. The tectonic correction of paleomagnetic directions in 115 samples from 22 sites was made and the direction of an ancient component of natural remanent magnetization was found. The paleomagnetic pole Ô=45,7 S and L=228,5 E (100±5 Ma) was calculated.
