According to instrumental data on the earthquakes with foci in the Earth's crust that occurred in the Odessa region and near its borders during 1840-2000 maximal prognostic intensity of shocks (Imax) has been estimated with considering the results of the geodynamic division of the East-European Platform. The calculated Imax values notably differ from each other on some areas of the study region. The maximal shocking has intensity 5-6 in the northern and the central parts of the region (at the 30-10km focal depths), intensity 6-7 in the area situated lower that t. Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky and intensity 7-8 in the most seismically hazardous region (in the settlements near r. Danube delta).
