Earth's crust of Antarctica: density model and its contribution in anomalous gravitational field

In this paper we tried to construct a density model of the earth's crust and to estimate probable density inhomogeneities of the upper mantle for the south polar region. This work was made on the basis of the global model of the earth's crust CRUST 5.1. It was detalized (step of discretization was chosen as 111.195 km, i.e. the grid side was equal to 1° of latitude) and corrected. On the basis of our density model of the Earth's crust, the gravitational effect of crust was obtained. Then the residual (mantle) gravitational anomalies were calculated. On the basis of the mantle anomalies density inhomogeneities of the upper mantle were found. Also the estimation of density distribution in the upper mantle was made (to the depth of 100 km). The schemes of the mantle anomalies and density distribution in the upper mantle were demonstrated.
