Non-linear elastic properties of genetic rock types

A new method of determining effective elastic constants of the third order for rocks by inverting the relation of the rate of longitudinal polarisation to that of transverse polarisation at different hydrostatic pressure is considered. For inverting a new magnetic model is used which is a hard skeleton cutted arbitrarily by oriented disc-shaped cracks. The effective linear and non-linear elastic constants are calculated by the method of the conditional moment functions. Results of determining nonlinear effective elastic constants a*, b*, ñ* for the most important genetic types of intrusive, volcanogenic and metamorphic rocks are given.
