Propagation of electromagnetic impulse disturbances within absorbing media: a kinematic aspect

© Shuman V.N.

A new approach has been offered for determining kinematic characteristics of the process of propagation of impulse electromagnetic excitations within material medium, which have some velocity field v. A brief review of the most essential geoelectric applications of theoretical results related to this circle is being given. The approach to assessing velocities of electromagnetic process propagation is mainly based on finding the complete (material or substantional) derivative and obtaining the corresponding "transfer equations" of scalar or vector (whirl-less or solenoid-like) value. And though velocity characteristics found in such a way are fairly ambiguous, under some additional conditions they are completely correct, they are apt to the well known classical physical ideas and can be a useful tool for elucidating the results of geoelectromagnetic experiment with natural magnetic field excitation and the one being under control.
