On zero level of irregular magnetic variations field at middle latitudes

To choose zero level of irregular magnetic field variations for a long time interval, the seasonal and cyclic changes of the Sq-variations at the mid-latitude observatory were investigated. Numerical meanings of the seasonal and cyclic changes of Sq-variations on five international quiet days at the magnetic observatory "Lviv" for about fifty years as well as current-induced DCF-variations in magnetic pause calculated by the Mead model are presented. The DCF and Sq-variations at the mid-latitude observatory are compared. A conclusion has been made about a necessity to take into account seasonal and cyclic changes of DCF and Sq, as well as making corrections for DCF variations when they are used as zero level of irregular magnetic field variations for a long time interval.
