Studies of the state of rock spoil heaps by geophysical methods

© Tirkel M.G., Kompanets A.I.

Large rock spoil heaps, creating considerable technogenic loads on geologic environment, respond to local features of structure, properties and conditions of rocks that compose their bases. This contributes to the development of hazardous physical-geologic processes that destroy normal use of spoils, deteriorates ecological conditions and often results in destructive consequences. The data of geophysical research within the rock spoil heap ¹2 of Inguletsky Ore-Dressing Plant are considered with the aim of obtaining information on the structure and physical- mechanical characteristics of crystalline basement, sedimentary cover and of the spoil itself to reveal areas of possible development of hazardous physical-geological processes.
