Manifestations of seismic activity in XVIII-XX centuries and potentially seismically dangerous zones of the western part of Ukraine

Arrangement of earthquakes foci and their magnitude have been considered in light of fault tectonics of the Carpathian region and the western part of the East-European platform. The areas of possible appearance of earthquakes foci have been identified within the platform taking into account special features of tectonics, geomorphology and neo-tectonic movements of the earth's crust. Energy level of expected tectonic events within the nodes of faults has been estimated in accordance with the known dependence of the earthquake magnitude on the length of disjunctive faults, revealed for the areas with different extent of tectonic activity. <<back |
