Kinematic schemes of interpretation of local tectonic rotations

© M.I. Orlova

Brief review of main kinematic models, which explain tectonic rotations of rigid blocks limited by shift faults has been given. A scheme based on an assumption of possibility of simultaneous rotations of the vector of natural magnetization around horizontal and vertical axes aimed at identification and interpretation of tectonic rotations in exposures of intrusive and volcanogenic rocks has been proposed. The actual data given in the published results of paleomagnetic studies of Permian-Triassic sediments of the Mangyshlak and Cretaceous granodiorites of Japan have been analyzed with its help.
