Application of the acoustopolariscopy method in mineralogy, geophysics and geology investigations

© Gorbatsevich F.F.

The acoustopolarization method we have devised allows solving a number of problems in studies of mineral and crystalline rock properties. Observations are taken with polarized shear waves in the manner similar to the optical polarization method. Our method has been devised to determine elastic characteristics and parameters of non-elastic effects in minerals and rocks. The method may also serve to determine characteristics of palaeostresses in massifs of metamorphic rocks. In the work one can find information on the acoustopolariscopy method, original devices and examples of the method application to solve problems in mineralogy, geophysics and geology.
