More than 60 new measurements of heat flow were obtained in the northern part of the Black Sea in 2003-2004. Detailed geothermal studies have been performed within two testing grounds. One of them is located in the north-western part of the sea within the limits of continental slope in a zone of intense gassing, the other - in the Sorokina trough in the area of an active mud volcano Dvurechenskiy. The role of different geological and physical-chemical processes (fluid and gas dynamics, mud volcanism a nd diapirism et al.) in distribution of geothermal parameters has been estimated. It has been shown that zones of gassing and mud volcanism are characterized by different gas-thermal regime due to different conditions of heat-mass-transfer.
