Special features of construction and trends of development of modern hardware for magneto-telluric and magneto-variation soundings

The peculiarities of the development of modern magnetotelluric and magneto-variational instruments are discussed. It is shown that their parameters mainly depend on the quality of the used transducers of magnetic and electric fields in the Earth's crust. The criteria of electric and magnetic sensors selection are substantiated and their noise performance is considered as the main parameter to compare. The noise density plots of both magnetic and electric sensors, which are at the level of world best ones are given. The examples of practical realization of field magnetotelluric and magnetovariational stations are given, as well as the record results of the processing of their data collected in field experiments.
