The problems of induction soundings of the Earth's mantle by natural fields

© V.Yu. Semenov

Problems of the induction soundings of the Earth's mantle are considered in view of a variety of approaches to estimate the experimental impedances from different sounding methods used in the long-period range (hours-years). This variety is connected with different types of impedances depending both on the assumed media properties and type of sounding and the accepted space model with the spherical or flat, stationary or rotary Earth causing two types of inductions, on the exciting field structures several different sources of which are present in the long-periods used for the mantle soundings. The concomitant problems like the response functions types or the resulting parameters of the mantle soundings are also discussed.
