Magneto-stratigraphy of the Upper Neogene deposits of the Taman peninsula

Magneto-stratigraphic study of Upper-Meotian and Pontian sedimentary rocks in the section of the cape Zhelezniy Rog from the Tamanian Peninsula has been made. The standard procedure of the samples demagnetization by the alternating magnetic field and temperature, the conducting of the Kirshvink analysis have allowed to separate the components of natural remanent magnetization (NRM) and to determine the primary characteristic In0 component. The regional magneto-stratigraphic section of the cape Zhelezniy Rog has been plotted according to the data obtained. It marks the state of geomagnetic field in the Late Neogene time interval and contains reliable paleomagnetic benchmarks for stratifying and correlating similar masses within Eastern Paratethys. <<back |
