Characteristic time of thermal and diffusion relaxation

It is shown that frequently used dimensional estimate of a layer thermal relaxation time,  , as
L2/ê based on the layer thickness, L, and thermal diffusivity, ê, strongly overestimates
.
The correct estimate
should contain a factor of  which is of the order of 0.1.
