Olga Legostaieva is a member of the editorial board of the Geophysical Journal.

From 1999-2021 Olga Legostaieva took an active part together with experts from Europe (Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Finland, Austria, Hungary, Great Britain), the USA and Canada in unique seismic studies of the lithosphere of Ukraine and adjacent territories. of Europe by the method of deep seismic sounding. These works were very successful and were highly praised by the world geological and geophysical community, and their results are covered in the world's most prestigious scientific journals and monographs. According to the results of the work "Deep structure of the lithosphere and seismic hazard of the territory of Ukraine" received the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology in 2019.

Field of Competence:

  • Development of automated systems for processing and interpretation of geophysical data.
  • Development of density model for the Earth's crust and upper mantle.

The package of automated interpretation of gravity, magnetic and thermal fields (GMT-Auto) allows us to develop three-dimensional models of a continuous distribution of physical parameters in them for given fields. This makes it possible to analyze the fields in more detail and more fully, because fitting the calculated field to the model largely depends on the degree of approximation of the environment in the model.

The automated complex (GMT-Auto) is widely used in solving practical tasks in studies of the complex structure of different geological features utilizing geophysical data. Its applying made it possible to develop new three-dimensional density models, in particular, for the Dnieper-Donetsk basin, Donbas fold belt [Kuprienko et al., 2010; Starostenko et al., 2010, 2019, 2020], the NW Black Sea shelf [Starostenko et al., 2005; Starostenko et al., 2011], the Dutch coastal zone [Dirkzwager, et al., 2000], the shields (Ukrainian [Kuprienko et al., 2007ab, Starostenko et al., 2015, 2017, 2018], Baltic [Pashkevich et al., 2014]), and the Voronezh crystalline massif [Starostenko et al., 2013]). These models of real geological structures are used in solving practical tasks of geology, tectonics, including the search and exploration of mineral resources.

Publication:Since 1996 Olga Legostaieva is the author and co-author of more than 127 scientific works (70 articles, 52 theses, 3 monographs, 1 Certificate of copyright registration, 1 section in the monograph, one auto-abstract), of which 70 works in professional editions and 37 publications in periodicals, which are included in the scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science. Participated with reports at international conferences. Proceedings of the conferences, in addition to Ukraine, have been published in Russia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, France, Austria, Spain, Poland and Romania.
